The original “Nusamai Bridge” was completed in 1900 (33rd year of Meiji). It was rebuilt various times after events such as colliding with driftwood due to the overflow of Kushiro river, the freezing of the river during winter, and drift ice. The current bridge is the 5th version build in 1977 (52nd year of Meiji). It is a popular location for a brilliant view of the sunset.
Restaurant Izumi-ya Headquarter Shop
“Restaurant Izumi-ya Headquarter Shop” is where one of Kushiro’s soul foods called “Spa-Katsu” was invented. “Spa-Katsu” is a voluptuous dish with meat sauce spaghetti topped with ton (pork) katsu on a sizzling iron plate. Since the price is also reasonable, families with children with lots of appetite can also enjoy their time here.
Kushiro Fisherman's Wharf MOO
“Kushiro Fisherman’s Wharf MOO”, known as Kushiro’s landmark, is a business complex facility with a great lineup of processed marine and farm products, snacks, and souvenirs from all areas of Hokkaido. Even more, this location has various choices of delicious foods only available in port cities such as fresh seafoods, Kushiro’s specialty “Zangi”, and yakitori. It is also a popular location where customers have an easy access to Kushiro’s seasonal specialty gourmet foods. We especially recommend “Ganpeki Robata”, only open during a limited time between mid May~ October. Wouldn’t you like to heartily grill and enjoy fresh seafoods at a pier where you can admire the view of “Nusamai Bridge”, one of the 3 greatest bridges in Hokkaido?
